Job DetailsJob Location: CENTENNIAL, CO 80016Position Type: Full-Time ExemptSalary Range: $51,056.00 - $76,584.00 SalarySUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, the Athletics Supervisor is responsible for developing and coordinating, internally or through contractual means, a wide variety of adult and youth sports programs, activities, and events throughout the District.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Primary responsibilities include overseeing part-time employees and contractual vendors, and making vital business decisions for the Athletics department.  Coordinate, supervise, schedule, promote, evaluate, and maintain a comprehensive adult, youth, and senior sports program to include instructional, team leagues, camps, clinics, and tournaments for all levels of ability and all age groups including, but not limited to, basketball, volleyball, racquetball, climbing, soccer, gymnastics, and pickleball.  Update Athletics program policies and procedures including, but not limited to, risk and time management, class standards and lesson plans, staff development, service guidelines, and emergency procedures as needed  Assist with preparing annual budget for Athletics department through monitoring and evaluating programs, compiling participation information, and reviewing expenditure and revenue reports for programs and activities.  Review and update department training manuals as needed  Develop and amend job descriptions as needed; recruit, hire, train, schedule, and manage part time Athletics staff and contract personnel; manage personnel functions including, but not limited to, approving time cards, staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and administering discipline; assist HR as needed with personnel investigations and resolving grievances  Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteer coaches for athletic leagues  Evaluate programs to ensure instructor performance is meeting District standards and expectations, leadership, safety, and customer service skills  In collaboration with the Special Events Supervisor, coordinate and manage athletics-focused special events throughout the District   Schedule, coordinate, and lead departmental staff meetings  Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to develop promotional materials including, but not limited to, electronic catalog, flyers, post cards, posters, and other marketing tools to market the Athletics department   Respond to patrons' questions, comments, and concerns within a reasonable timeframe (24-48 hours) for customer service quality assurance  Inventory and ensure proper care of all current equipment and supplies used for Athletics programs and activities.  Research and request proposals for new equipment as needed    Pursue sources of additional funding through fund raisers and solicitation of donations from local organizations  Coordinate gymnasium usage and program needs with appropriate personnel prior to program start dates  Random inspection of off-site facility programs to ensure safety of environment and employee performance with instruction, leadership, and customer service skills  Manage and coordinate district-wide athletic field usage and permits   Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.   Must maintain a positive and friendly attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers  Assist District leadership with long range planning and goals regarding facility and program practices  Participates in a required, consistent weekly Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation, serving one scheduled MOD shift each week. Shifts may include openings, closings, and/or weekends based on facility needs. Provide athletic staff responsibilities as necessary should assigned personnel not show up   Complies with District rules and regulations, policies and procedures  Performs various other duties as assigned by supervisor   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Considerable knowledge in sports/athletics management  Knowledge of practices and techniques regarding recreation program administration and fiscal management  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing  Plan, promote, and supervise athletics activities/programs  Recruit, train, and supervise part time athletics personnel  Establish and maintain professional working relationships with other District personnel, general public, vendors, contractual companies, and representatives of other governmental agencies  PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:  Work performed is in a busy, close and, at times, noisy environment where interruptions may exist  Ability to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner in possibly stressful and emotionally charged situations  May require long periods of standing  Ability to stand, reach, and kneel  Ability to talk and/or hear managers, co-workers, and general public  Ability to lift, carry, or transport objects up to 50 lbs. assisted  Ability to see objects closely and at a distance  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  BENEFITS & PERKS: Participation in TPRD's 32-hour workweek. Medical, dental, and vision insurance.  10% employer retirement contribution Paid vacation and sick leave.  Paid birthday holiday.  Recreation benefits for employee and immediate family members.  Tuition reimbursement.  QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Requires major course work in recreation or related field from an accredited college/university  Requires two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in athletics/sports management and programming.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered  Strong supervisory, administrative, organization and communication skills  Proficiency with computers; Microsoft office software applications and recreation software programs  Excellent internal and external customer service skills    Ability to multitask, problem solve, and create and maintain a respectful, welcoming, and friendly environment for customers and employees  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays  CPR and First Aid certifications upon hire
