Graywolf is seeking Plate/Welders for Centertown, KY project. Per Diem eligibility >60 miles. Plate Stick Test Required. Must be available for Day or Night Shift.

Summary:

A plate welder focuses on joining thick steel plates, often for applications like tanks, vessels, and large structures.

Essential Duties:

Welding Safety – work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
Welding Tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools and in a safe manner.
Blue Print Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
Set material in stands, racks , hoists etc. for welding – filet and groove welding
Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas shielded arc, self shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.
Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools.

Weld Test Details:

3 position / 2G, 3G, 4G ,/ ½” Thick carbon steel plates.
1 - Horizontal, 1 – Uphill Vertical & 1 Overhead will be welded at the same time.
Welding will be SMAW process E7018 electrode.

Qualifications:

At least three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder using SMAW process on steel plates.
Welders who also have experience in TIG upon hiring at site, may be asked to complete further weld testing to weld on Inconel liner.
Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements:

Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
