Position Description

The Warehouse Specialist supports supply and warehouse operations for individual equipment, uniforms/organizational clothing, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological (CBR) equipment supporting approximately 1,300 Marines and Navy personnel. Aligned to the Warehouse Specialist labor category, this role performs receipt, storage, issue, inventory, and record-keeping functions under the direction of the Supply Warehouse Lead.

Essential Position Functions

  • Receive, store, and issue equipment, materials, and supplies; count and sort incoming articles to verify receipt against requisitions and invoices.
  • Examine stock to verify conformance to handling and storage specifications and store articles by style, size, or type of material.
  • Fill supply/equipment requests, create requisitions to refill stock to approved levels, and report inventory adjustments.
  • Conduct visual inspections and serviceability assessments of CBR gear and masks prior to issue, and assist with gas mask fitting.
  • Maintain signed individual custody records for issued individual and CBR equipment.
  • Perform Care of Material in Storage (COMIS) actions, including in-storage inspections and minor repair of packaging.
  • Support physical inventory operations and research/resolution of discrepant and frustrated receipts.
  • Current, or the ability to obtain, a Secret security clearance.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform data entry and use Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel and Access.

Competencies for the role

The Warehouse Specialist demonstrates solid warehouse operations, inventory, and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail in receipt inspection and material handling. This role requires the ability to follow supply procedures and support accurate inventory accountability.

Physical Requirements for the role

This position is performed primarily in a warehouse and light industrial environment. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and the ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes with mechanical assistance such as pallet jacks or forklifts. The role also requires the ability to work at a computer for data entry.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily a warehouse, magazine, and light industrial setting with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions when conducting transport, range, and outdoor operations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toed footwear and foul/cold weather gear, is required. Work supports adherence to established safety, security, and organizational policies.

Compensation is set in accordance with the applicable Service Contract Act Wage Determination (WD 2015-5525, Rev. 30)
