Job Description:

Supervisor: Equipment Technician Coordinator

Job Description: The Webber GPS Installer is responsible for operating a truck and traveling to various projects throughout Central Texas to install, repair, and maintain equipment monitoring devices and related technologies. This role includes working with 360 camera systems, RFID systems, and other electronics on heavy construction equipment in field environments. Success in this position requires a basic understanding of electrical, GPS, and cellular system repair and troubleshooting.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Operate a truck and travel to project sites to perform installation, removal, and repair of equipment monitoring systems and technologies on heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, track hoes, and other highway construction machinery.  

  • Perform skilled tasks such as inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of telematic, camera, and RFID systems.  

  • Read, understand, and complete service-related documents and paperwork promptly.  

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work vehicle and work area to ensure a safe environment.  

  • Read and interpret specifications and technical manuals.  

  • Be prepared for overnight travel, with an expectation of up to four nights away per month.  

  • Safely use hand and power tools, diagnostic devices, and equipment.  

  • Communicate effectively with vendors, supervisors, and equipment operators.  

  • Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness and a clear understanding of equipment safety protocols.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.  

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing DC electrical components and wiring.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive and equipment electrical theory, including CAN-based communication systems.

  • Ownership of personal hand tools and electrical test equipment required. 

  • Proficiency in verbal and written English communication.

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean vehicle record.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and handle both abstract and concrete variables.  

  • Willingness to work outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions.

  • Flexible work schedule required; some weekend work may be necessary, with compensatory days off during the week.

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience: five or more years related experience required.

Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.

Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)

Work Environment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and high and/ or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
