Summary: 

Under general direction from Management, the supervisor will ensure Maintenance Department maintains operational readiness of location.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Monitor quality of work to ensure mechanical repairs are performed correctly, root causes have been traced, and equipment is functioning properly at the end of repairs.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance tasks to ensure tasks are completed and are being done effectively to have continuous production operation.
  • Train maintenance mechanics in spotting potential issues with equipment while performing preventive maintenance and while monitoring running equipment.
  • Teach and enforce good mechanical practices such as housekeeping before and after tasks, ensuring correct parts are being used, and equipment is operational after tasks and repairs.
  • Champion safety practices, not just enforcing.
  • Organize and arrange shop, shop equipment, and parts to ensure spare parts and spare equipment are ready for use.
  • Ensure equipment rebuilds are performed with a high level of detail to optimize equipment when back in service.
  • Plan and assign designated tasks to a crew of 5 mechanics daily.
  • Work with the operations manager to obtain items and resources to make the department more effective.
  • Coordinate coverage for operations that has mechanics on call for 24/7.
  • Work with vendors and contractors in building relationships, scoping out contract work, and monitoring pricing.


Non-Essential Duties:

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as requested by supervisor
  • Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.


Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as mechanic or mill wright in manufacturing maintenance with minimum 2 years’ experience as supervisor.
  • Education and Certifications a plus.
