Responsibilities

Staffing Specialist/Scheduling Coordinator Opportunity

This position is full-time; 40 hours per week. Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. This is an on-site position. 

 

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years. The Staffing Coordinator works with CNO, Nursing Managers, and Supervisors to ensure appropriate staffing of the nursing units on a daily basis.  Looks ahead to fill vacant shifts and monitors staffing to patient ratios taking into account census, acuity, staff orientation and related data points.  Manages staffing schedule to minimize overtime. Prepares nursing staffing schedule, generates daily reports related to staffing, staffing sheets and related staff reporting. Maintains copies of schedules and shift assignment shifts as required by licensing agencies. Assists the CNO/UNM's with daily supervisory needs when on shift. Carries the supervisor phone and communicates call-outs and staffing changes to the CNO and ICN as needed. Communicates with ARC and the units regarding admissions and discharges. Maintains a hospital bed board status sheet. Responds to crisis calls on units and assists with milieu management as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent; degree in human services field preferred
  • Two (2) years experience in staffing/scheduling, within a hospital setting.
  • Two (2) years experience creating and maintaining staff schedules
  • Experience with position control
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience utilizing scheduling software/apps
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; attention to detail; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile
