Job Description:

Job Description Summary

Help invent the next generation of Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS).  This position will help lead and guide science and technology research, analysis, and testing for the program.  They will monitor science and technology trends for evolution in both the threats and counter measures required.  The candidate will work closely with both company and customer stakeholders as lead for the CUAS S&T advisory council to identifyareas of technology for research related to threats and countermeasures.  They will provide recommendations to the Chief Engineer, Program Manager and customer stakeholders on what technologies require deeper investigation, research, and testing. They will work closely with cross functional teams to explore those threats and  technological areas identifiedand provide overall guidance for research and development efforts tied to the technology areas. Build partnerships with industry innovators to stay current on the latest threats and advancements so that the program has access to the latest CUAS technologies.   

Candidates should have demonstrated strong technology leadership skills, a deep understanding of UAS and CUAS related technologies including autonomous control and navigation, propulsion, sensors, mitigations, command and control and AI/ML. You will serve as a technical liaison, coordinating with government representatives as well as internal and external partners to identify and coordinate research, testing, and evaluation of emerging UAS and CUAS technologies. This position requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a proven ability to stay current in a rapidly evolving threat and technology environment. 


Specific Responsibilities

  • Interface with customer stakeholders to define understand threats, missions, and emerging  requirements.

  • Stay current on laws and regulations governing CUAS 

  • Research and identify promising technologies for CUAS 

  • Work with customers and cross functional staff to identify and plan promising avenues of research. 

  • Develop develop CONOPS and solutions briefs for use and integration of new technologies. 

  • Serve as a resource for the businesses institutional knowledge and ensure the full team’s adherence to design best practices with a particular focus on open architecture, modular designs. 

  • Serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentorship onthreats, CUAS technologies along with relevant CONOPS and TTPs. 

  • Participate in technical reviews, including design reviews. 

  • Lead trade studies, and risk assessments, to ensure robust and reliable solutions are identified. 

  • Drive innovation by identifying and guiding advanced technologies and best practices to enhance system performance and effectiveness. 

  • Support proposal development as needed, including technical solutioning, cost estimation, and customer presentations. 

  • Represent the organization in technical discussions, reviews, and briefings with senior leadership and customers and other stakeholders. 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Active secret or higher security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering or Science fieldand recent experience in technology leadership and/or research and development. 
  • 10+ years of related professional experience, with at least 5+ years in atechnology research or R&Dleadership role. 
  • Experience in overall Air Defense with an emphasis on UAS threats and mitigations.
  • Basic understanding of electronic warfare, EOIR, Radar, situational awareness, command and control and similar systems and how they counter the UAS threat.
  • Experience apply technology solutions to counter threats and providing practical approaches to implementing those solutions in systems. 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where rapid results save lives.
  • Prior technical leadership experience. 
  • Experience working in high visibility roles.  

Desired

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with programs/projects for DHS agencies. 
  • Experience with all phases of the program life-cycle. 

Security Clearance Requirement:

An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.​
