Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP and NCUA regulations, and efficiency in all financial processes. This role provides leadership and hands-on support to maintain high service standards and deliver timely, reliable financial information that supports organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop departmental goals, strategies, policies and procedures, and lead implementation of approved changes.
- Manage and make recommendations regarding staffing, hiring, performance evaluations, compensation adjustments, promotions, transfers, and terminations within the accounting function.
- Coach, develop, and mentor team members to drive high performance, accountability, and professional growth.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, month end close, accruals, accounts payable and fixed asset accounting. Includes back-office functions such as Wire Transfer, ACH and Draft Exceptions.
- Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP, credit union policies, and NCUA regulations.
- Keeps abreast of back-office regulations including National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) and Regulation E. Makes recommendations to the VP of Finance concerning necessary changes to credit union policy and procedures to comply with regulatory changes.
- Supervise daily and monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Reviews monthly expenses and income for reasonableness and to ensure accruals are made when necessary.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting reports.
- Provide analysis on special projects as requested by VP of Finance or CEO.
- Assists VP of Finance with Asset Liability Management reporting.
- Oversee preparation and submission of the quarterly NCUA Call Report (5300).
- Prepare standard and customized reports for management and Board packets.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation and efficiency within accounting operations
- Support the annual audit, NCUA Examinations, and any external or internal audits
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with the VP of Finance
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental or organizational needs.

Education:   Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
Â
Experience:Â Minimum of three to five years of accounting experience, preferably within a credit union, bank, or regulated financial institution. Prior supervisory or managerial experience is strongly preferred.
Â
Skills: Must have excellent communication skills – oral, written, verbal, and presentation.
Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in technology solutions relevant to Accounting and Finance
