Position SummaryÂ
The Dining Services Director provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the ROCS Dining Services Program. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and sustainable nutrition services across all sites while supporting staff, managing program performance, and strengthening community partnerships.Â
The Director ensures that services align with federal and state regulations while advancing ROCS’ mission to support independence, health, and quality of life for older adults and vulnerable populations.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Program Leadership & OperationsÂ
- Oversee daily operations of all Dining Services sites to ensure consistency, quality, and complianceÂ
- Lead menu planning, food purchasing, and recipe standardization in alignment with nutritional guidelinesÂ
- Monitor site performance through regular on-site visits and program evaluationsÂ
- Ensure accurate tracking of meals served, participation, and donationsÂ
- Analyze program data, trends, and outcomes to drive continuous improvementÂ
Compliance & ReportingÂ
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local program requirementsÂ
- Review and evaluate reports related to eligibility, participation, and fundingÂ
- Stay current on policy changes impacting nutrition programsÂ
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting across all sitesÂ
Financial Oversight & SustainabilityÂ
- Monitor program budgets and support cost-control strategiesÂ
- Assist in grant writing and funding development effortsÂ
- Collaborate with leadership on sustainability planning and resource allocationÂ
- Support local advisory boards with financial planning and fundraising initiativesÂ
Staff Leadership & DevelopmentÂ
- Provide supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to Dining Services staffÂ
- Deliver training in food safety, kitchen operations, reporting systems, and program expectationsÂ
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environmentÂ
- Support personnel management in coordination with Human ResourcesÂ
Community Engagement & PartnershipsÂ
- Serve as a liaison between ROCS and community stakeholdersÂ
- Promote program awareness, participation, and community supportÂ
- Support participant engagement through social and wellness-focused programmingÂ
- Participate in professional associations including South Dakota Nutrition Project Directors Association and Meals on Wheels AmericaÂ
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Direct supervision of Dining Services staff across all sitesÂ
- Conduct regular site visits, staff meetings, and performance evaluationsÂ
- Provide guidance on program delivery, participant engagement, and complianceÂ
- Support staff development and address personnel issues in collaboration with leadershipÂ
Minimum QualificationsÂ
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferredÂ
- Minimum of 5+ years of supervisory experienceÂ
- Experience managing multi-site operationsÂ
- Experience with budgeting or program oversightÂ
- Ability to interpret federal and state requirementsÂ
- ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain)Â
- Valid South Dakota Driver’s LicenseÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
- Leadership experience in human services or nonprofit organizationsÂ
- Experience with grant-funded programsÂ
- Experience in rural service deliveryÂ
- Grant writing or fundraising experienceÂ
