Reports To:  Chief Executive Officer 

Position Summary 
The Dining Services Director provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the ROCS Dining Services Program. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and sustainable nutrition services across all sites while supporting staff, managing program performance, and strengthening community partnerships. 

The Director ensures that services align with federal and state regulations while advancing ROCS’ mission to support independence, health, and quality of life for older adults and vulnerable populations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Program Leadership & Operations 
  • Oversee daily operations of all Dining Services sites to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance 
  • Lead menu planning, food purchasing, and recipe standardization in alignment with nutritional guidelines 
  • Monitor site performance through regular on-site visits and program evaluations 
  • Ensure accurate tracking of meals served, participation, and donations 
  • Analyze program data, trends, and outcomes to drive continuous improvement 
Compliance & Reporting 
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local program requirements 
  • Review and evaluate reports related to eligibility, participation, and funding 
  • Stay current on policy changes impacting nutrition programs 
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting across all sites 
Financial Oversight & Sustainability 
  • Monitor program budgets and support cost-control strategies 
  • Assist in grant writing and funding development efforts 
  • Collaborate with leadership on sustainability planning and resource allocation 
  • Support local advisory boards with financial planning and fundraising initiatives 
Staff Leadership & Development 
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to Dining Services staff 
  • Deliver training in food safety, kitchen operations, reporting systems, and program expectations 
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment 
  • Support personnel management in coordination with Human Resources 
Community Engagement & Partnerships 
  • Serve as a liaison between ROCS and community stakeholders 
  • Promote program awareness, participation, and community support 
  • Support participant engagement through social and wellness-focused programming 
  • Participate in professional associations including South Dakota Nutrition Project Directors Association and Meals on Wheels America 
Supervisory Responsibilities 
  • Direct supervision of Dining Services staff across all sites 
  • Conduct regular site visits, staff meetings, and performance evaluations 
  • Provide guidance on program delivery, participant engagement, and compliance 
  • Support staff development and address personnel issues in collaboration with leadership 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of supervisory experience 
  • Experience managing multi-site operations 
  • Experience with budgeting or program oversight 
  • Ability to interpret federal and state requirements 
  • ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain) 
  • Valid South Dakota Driver’s License 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Leadership experience in human services or nonprofit organizations 
  • Experience with grant-funded programs 
  • Experience in rural service delivery 
  • Grant writing or fundraising experience
