Position Summary

The Food Service Aide supports the dietary team in all aspects of meal preparation, service, and sanitation to ensure high-quality food service for residents at all times. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Basic math skills required
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, and baking in accordance with recipes, special diets, and direction from the Cook/Baker
  • Set up dining areas, take orders, serve food and beverages, and provide excellent customer service
  • Bus tables, wash dishes, and clean/sanitize dining and kitchen areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans
  • Sweep and mop floors to ensure a safe and sanitary workspace
  • Review menus and work orders to determine food quantities and preparation needs
  • Prepare items in advance, including freezer pulls and next-day meal prep
  • Transport hot and cold food safely to and from the kitchen
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including proper temperature logging and documentation
  • Assist in training new food service staff as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and team members
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, menus, and instructions
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and use kitchen equipment safely
  • Work environment includes kitchens and dining areas with varying temperatures
  • Must use caution in potentially wet or slippery conditions
