Duties include obtaining authorizations and any predeterminations for all Radiology/Laboratory exams and any outgoing referrals in accordance with established rules and procedures. Job Qualifications and ExpectationsJOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) Obtaining all authorizations for all required imaging exams, labs and/or referrals through online insurance sites and through phone calls. Updating insurance information, authorization status, and any other pertinent information. Correspondence concerning insurance status or retro authorizations with appropriate personnel. Check Inbasket regularly for authorization requests or follow up questions from referring offices. Provide insurance guidance to team members or providers. Demonstrate understanding of insurance requirements. Attend Christie Clinic sponsored classes for changes to insurance requirements in the electronic medical record and individual carrier updates. Act as a liaison between Internal Medicine and other Christie Clinic departments in order to refer patients to specialized providers for internal and external referrals. Schedule tests, labs, appointments, etc. Attend and participate in daily, weekly, monthly department huddles. Maintain Internal Medicine scheduler work list by effectively prioritizing both current and follow up patients. Maintain an organized work area. (Filing patient orders, routers, etc.)  Perform related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: None CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: None TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Demands include sitting for prolonged periods of time. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.         TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical setting and involves contact with insurance carriers, radiology personnel, and various clinical team members. Requirements may include working irregular hours.      PAY AND BENEFITS: The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
