The mission of the Education Justice project is to build a model college-in-prison program that demonstrates the positive impacts of higher education upon incarcerated people, the communities from which they come, the host institution, and society as a whole.

**This is a part-time student position.**
The Education Justice Project (EJP) seeks a dynamic, organized, and results-driven University of Illinois student to join EJP as a part-time Web Developer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining EJP's websites. This position typically works 5 - 10 hours/week.

This position is based on campus, with all work conducted virtually; prison clearance is not required.ā
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update websites ā Regularly update content, fix broken links, and ensure website accuracy for all EJP-affiliated websites.
- Improve website navigation ā Optimize site structure to ensure resources are easy to find.
- Develop new features ā Implement tools like a searchable database, interactive maps, and user-friendly submission forms.
- Collaboration: Work closely across different teams to develop web solutions that support EJP's initiatives and enhance user experience.ā
- Enhance accessibility ā Ensure the websites comply with WCAG guidelines, making them user-friendly for all audiences and ensuring best accessibility practices.
- Improve website security ā Implement security best practices to protect user data and prevent vulnerabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-2 years related experience as a Web Developer/Website Admin
Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Understanding of basic SEO and performance optimization.
- Understanding of Google Analytics 4
- Basic understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.ā
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.ā
While this is primarily a technical position, our expectation is that all EJP members will take advantage of offered opportunities to learn about criminal justice and incarceration and consider themselves a valued part of the wider EJP community.

Compensation:
Depends on status. Undergraduates start at $17/hour and graduate compensation depends on current GEO rates.
