Senior Manager, Commercial Finance

 

Job Summary:

 

The Senior Manager, Commercial Finance, will serve as a strategic business partner to the North America region of Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams, providing financial analysis and insights to drive operational excellence and profitability. This role will drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for contracted projects, manufacturing facilities and supply chain operations in North America. This role will report to the Senior Director, Commercial Finance.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting processes for projects (Revenue and Costs), manufacturing and operations in North America including supporting content for executive level and board level reporting.

  • Provide variance analysis (actuals vs. forecast) with actionable insights for leadership and business partners.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess production costs, capacity utilization, and efficiency initiatives.

  • Strategic partner with Procurement team to forecast unit costs and compare back to PO unit costs and actuals.

 

Project & Costing Analytics:

  • Develop and maintain a process to review actual project costs versus quoted costs with actionable insights to leadership.

  • Analyze and monitor manufacturing KPIs including labor efficiency, overhead and absorption, and make-vs-buy costs.

  • Strategic partner with plant and operations leadership to identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.

 

Operational Partnership:

  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives, make-vs-buy analyses, and capital investment decisions.

  • Evaluate the financial impact of production ramp-ups, capacity expansions, and new product introductions.

  • Primary finance business partner for S&OP process (demand/supply/inventory planning activities)

 

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements and help business partners develop process to support reporting and compliance.

  • Support ERP and financial system enhancements related to manufacturing and operations.

 

People Leader:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team to achieve organizational and individual goals.

  • Identify process improvements and implement strategies that enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture aligned with company values.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis or operations finance, preferably within manufacturing, industrial automation, or renewable energy sectors.

  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with SAP preferred.

  • Proven experience leading, managing, and developing teams.

  • Ability to drive cross-functional processes that are not owned by finance, but impact financial analytics.

  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills.

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations.

  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
