How you’ll contribute

An Environmental Services Aide who excels in this role:

  • Cleans and services building areas, including patient rooms, common areas, floors, offices, and other hospital spaces.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, supplies, and trash, and performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Cleans patient rooms, restrooms, lounges, offices, corridors, walls, and windows daily or as scheduled.
  • Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, and/or polishes floors; replenishes paper and soap products in restrooms; and cleans mirrors, sinks, and toilets.
  • Operates various types of equipment and machinery, including vacuums and floor scrubbers.
  • Collects and removes trash from the facility daily.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance issues and may perform minor repairs, such as changing light bulbs, as needed.
  • Stocks linens throughout the hospital.
  • Assists with office and room moves as needed.
  • Adheres to all infection control policies and procedures and reports safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What we’re looking for 

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
     

Experience:

  • Previous experience in hospital setting preferred.
  • Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred.


Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and other hospital staff.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Additional languages are preferred. 
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic equipment knowledge.
  • Appropriate telephone communication skills.
