Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Risk Management Consultant to join our Energy and Resources team. In this role, you will support the delivery of engineering risk management services that help clients make informed decisions and successfully execute complex projects. This role is a remote / hybrid position, with the work requiring travel to client sites up to 10% of the year.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify, evaluate, and manage risks across the project lifecycle from early-stage studies through execution and commissioning. The role involves facilitating structured risk assessments, developing practical risk management outputs, and helping teams translate technical information into clear, actionable insights.

This position supports a range of heavy industrial sectors, including mining, power, oil & gas, water, hydro & dams, and environmental remediation. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading discussions, engaging stakeholders, and contributing as an independent, client-facing professional in both workshop and project delivery settings.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to define and implement practical risk management strategies aligned with project objectives and scope.
  • Review and apply client risk management programs, adapting approaches to suit project phase, complexity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare for and facilitate structured risk workshops (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID, PHA, PFMA, FMEA, MAA, constructability and decision sessions) in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Lead multidisciplinary discussions to identify risks, challenge assumptions, and drive alignment on key technical and execution uncertainties.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate risk registers and related outputs that provide clear, decision-ready insights to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Support project teams in evaluating and prioritizing risks and identifying effective mitigation measures using principles such as hierarchy of controls and prevention through design (PtD).
  • Review technical documentation and coordinate with discipline leads to develop a working understanding of project systems, interfaces, and execution strategies.
  • Contribute to project reviews, studies, and deliverables by providing risk-informed perspectives across engineering, construction, and operational considerations.
  • Support ongoing risk monitoring and reporting, including periodic project risk updates and stakeholder communications.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal teams, ensuring open, practical, and transparent communication of risk-related topics.
  • Assist with proposal development and scope definition for risk management and related technical services.
  • Support interpretation of applicable regulations, standards, and industry practices as they relate to project risk and safety.
  • Coordinate with third-party specialists as required and support integration of their outputs into project deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation in accordance with project and company procedures.
