Summary of Role
The Systems Administrator II is an experienced technical professional responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of NovaSource's enterprise infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, backup, networks, and physical infrastructure environments. This position supports business-critical systems across corporate offices, Operations and Maintenance facilities, solar power plants, and related field environments.
The selected candidate will serve as a trusted technical resource, providing hands-on expertise in infrastructure administration, implementation, troubleshooting, documentation, disaster recovery, and technical guidance to internal IT staff. This role requires extensive experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure, enterprise storage, virtualization, Active Directory, backup and recovery, monitoring, security controls, and infrastructure standards.
Key Responsibilities
•   Design, implement, administer, maintain, and support enterprise server, storage, virtualization, backup, and physical infrastructure solutions.
•   Provide infrastructure support for corporate offices, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) sites, solar plants, and other field locations.
•   Design and implement infrastructure solutions that support business needs while ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and long-term growth.
•   Administer, maintain, and enhance Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, storage, and backup environments.
•   Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives by developing documentation, participating in testing, and maintaining recovery procedures.
•   Monitor infrastructure availability, capacity, performance, reliability, and overall system health, and take corrective action to resolve issues.
•   Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, storage, virtualization, backup, access, performance, and infrastructure-related issues.
•   Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, standards, operating procedures, and support runbooks.
•   Assess, document, test, and implement infrastructure changes in accordance with change management processes and compliance requirements.
•   Lead system upgrades, patch management activities, and the installation of new hardware and software.
•   Support the release, deployment, patching, upgrades, installation, decommissioning, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure systems.
•   Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and support to IT team members and technical staff.
•   Partner with project managers to define project scope, budgets, timelines, bills of materials (BOMs), and project deliverables.
•   Coordinate with vendors and service providers to support infrastructure projects, maintenance activities, issue resolution, and technology planning.
•   Maintain logical access controls, security documentation, and infrastructure records in accordance with company standards.
•   Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure standards, reduce operational risk, increase system reliability, and enhance service delivery.
•   Participate in the on-call support rotation and respond to critical infrastructure incidents as required.
•   Comply with all company safety policies, security standards, regulatory requirements, and housekeeping expectations.
•   Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
•   Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, administering, maintaining, and supporting enterprise server and storage infrastructure.
•   Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, and enterprise identity infrastructure.
•   Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or equivalent technologies.
•   Experience supporting enterprise storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, RAID, storage provisioning, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and storage management.
•   Experience with backup and recovery solutions, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity initiatives.
•   Experience implementing and maintaining security measures that protect systems and data from internal and external threats.
•   Ability to design and support highly available infrastructure solutions with appropriate capacity, redundancy, scalability, and resiliency.
•   Experience using infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools to monitor system health, service availability, capacity, performance, and perform root cause analysis.
•   Working knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and network services.
•   Experience supporting Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or hybrid cloud infrastructure environments.
•   Experience with infrastructure automation, scripting, and configuration management using PowerShell, Ansible, Azure Automation, or equivalent technologies.
•   Knowledge of security controls, vulnerability management, logical access controls, data encryption, endpoint protection, antivirus solutions, and regulatory compliance requirements.
•   Experience working within regulated IT environments; experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls is preferred.
•   Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, standards, procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
•   Strong communication, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
•   Ability to provide technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to less experienced team members.
•   Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, incidents, and support requests while maintaining professionalism and follow-through.
•   Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, project managers, business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and external partners.
•   Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation.
•   Ability to travel as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
•   Experience supporting infrastructure in construction, renewable energy, utility, industrial, field service, or other multi-site environments.
•   Experience supporting physical infrastructure at remote sites, construction trailers, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) facilities, or power plant environments.
•   Experience administering the SolarWinds Orion network management platform.
•   Experience with data center operations, including rack and stack installations, structured cabling, copper and fiber infrastructure, and hardware lifecycle management.
•   Experience with enterprise infrastructure monitoring platforms for servers, networks, storage, and related systems.
•   Experience integrating infrastructure into enterprise standards during acquisitions, site launches, or infrastructure modernization initiatives.
•   Working knowledge of NERC CIP or other regulatory compliance frameworks.
•   Experience supporting Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Hirschmann, Citrix, or comparable enterprise infrastructure technologies.
•   Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure or server and storage environments that support database platforms.
Experience:
•   Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Information Technology experience.
•   At least three (3) years of experience designing, implementing, administering, or supporting enterprise server, storage, virtualization, networking, or physical infrastructure solutions.
Education:
•   Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent years of work experience.
•   Relevant technical certifications preferred, such as Microsoft, VMware, Azure, AWS,Â
storage, backup, or infrastructure-related certifications.
