STAFF PHARMACIST – STERILE COMPOUNDING

The Staff Pharmacist – Sterile Compounding is responsible for verifying and safely dispensing sterile and non-sterile compounded medications and overseeing sterile compounding operations in compliance with USP guidelines, working in collaboration with the pharmacy team and reporting to the PIC.

  • Requires an active Arizona pharmacist license (R.Ph. or PharmD).
  • This is a closed-door pharmacy; all patient and provider communication is handled by phone.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify and safely dispense sterile and non-sterile compounded medications as prescribed.
  • Oversee sterile compounding operations in compliance with USP guidelines and applicable state, federal, and industry standards.
  • Ensure protocols, operating procedures, and records for sterile compounding activities are complete and compliant.
  • Champion safety and risk management, enforcing policies and procedures to protect our patients and staff.
  • Ensure all compounding equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and up to date per standard regulations.
  • Communicate with patients and providers by phone regarding prescription management as needed. 
  • Support regular pharmacy audits and inspections.
  • Oversee proper chemical, expired drug, and hazardous waste storage and disposal in a compliant manner.
  • Maintain appropriate sterile training and certifications.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Licensed with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy (additional state licenses preferred).
  • Sterile compounding experience.
  • Willing to undergo a background check and drug testing in advance of employment.
  • Must be capable of using the appropriate personal protective equipment as required per procedure and medication handled.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Comfortable with regularly working in the lab, gowned up, with all proper PPE.
  • Routine training required.
  • Full-time, hourly position.


COMPENSATION

  • $65 -70 per hour, based on experience and capabilities.
