SAIC’s Air Force, Space and Intelligence Business Group is currently hiring to advance space capabilities supporting our Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community customers. Ten miles from the SAIC headquarters, our Chantilly, VA team supports systems development, targeting & intelligence analysis, systems engineering & integration and more.

This position is for a Program IT Engineer for a large contract supporting a cutting-edge and innovative space programs. The Program IT Engineer provides touch labor (ITIL Tier 1 and 2) support to Govt, SAIC and teammates. As the on-site IT representative for multiple GFE and SAIC-managed systems, the Program IT Engineer is the focal for coordinating installs, moves, administration and outage recovery. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist onsite teammates through resolution of IT issues including escalating to provider engineering teams.
  • Enable onsite and remote teammates to navigate through available self-help and Tier 1 Help Desk resources; Augment with additional knowledge base resources, as required.
  • Execute local IT moves of workstations between offices, in coordination with distant system owner help desk teams.
  • Perform physical moves and LAN patch panel patching. 
  • Execute data transfers between air-gapped systems. Ensure transfers conform to approved processes and are properly approved and logged.
  • Execute local telephony installs and moves.  Coordinate with remote call manager administration teams to update phone number assignments.
  • Interface with physical security and IT cybersecurity teammates to generate and update security documentation to obtain and maintain system authorizations.
  • Assist Logistics staff with IT audits to ensure accurate records of where IT is located throughout the facility.
  • Perform basic IT and COMSEC Logistics support to distant COMSEC Responsible Officers (CRO) to assist in proactive maintenance or outage recovery.
  • Gather and communicate IT order requirements to Govt, Commercial (non-SAIC), and internal SAIC program offices. Includes workstations, LAN components, and peripherals.
  • Assist in escorting visiting IT deployment and maintenance teams.


  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Cyberspace certificate approved under DOD 8140 including Network+, Security+, CCNA or CND.  Information Technology-related Bachelors degree is a suitable alternative.
  • 4 year’s experience performing help desk Tier 1 support, system administration or IT engineering roles. Two years required, if candidates has a Bachelors.
  • Strong organizational skills capable of tracking dozens of project tasks to completion on a weekly basis.  Proactively provide updates to Program leadership to ensure delays are resolved quickly.
  • Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with supervision.
  • Desire to learn and take on additional responsibilities based on candidates’ s desired career path

Desired Qualifications:

  • Polygraph.
  • Bachelors degree.
  • CompTIA, Cisco, or other industry network engineering certifications.
  • Experience deploying or administering classified IC or DoD systems.
  • JIRA/Confluence experience.
