The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and toĀ numerousĀ public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.Ā 

TheĀ Infrastructure and Facilities Assurance Department (IFAD)Ā is the source of expertise for Operations and Facilities Engineering providing an array of technical capabilities that support our customers in assuring the availability, readiness, and success of ground assets and services required to meet the needs of the space enterprise.Ā 

We have a current need for anĀ Electrical Power EngineerĀ to join our high-performing team in solving some of today’s hardest problems and help evolve our capabilities in meeting the technical challenges of tomorrow. The position requires experience with the design, development, and operations of electrical power infrastructure, particularly in the areas of power generation, transmission, distribution, protection, controls, grounding, and lightning protection systems.Ā 

Work Model: This is a hybrid positionĀ locatedĀ in either El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIESĀ Ā 

We expect the candidate to:Ā 

  • Provide technicalĀ expertiseĀ inĀ identifyingĀ innovative technologies and operational enhancements to improve design, safety, resiliency/reliabilityĀ and cost efficiencyĀ 

  • Develop and implement advanced analytical techniques to evaluate facility systems andĀ optimizeĀ overall electrical systems performanceĀ 

  • Employ a rigorous and methodical approach to problem solving and root cause determinationĀ 

  • Deliver independent, data-driven technical recommendations to management and customers through effective verbal and written communicationĀ 

  • Develop/evaluate design criteria, concept design packages, supportĀ constructionĀ and commissioning operations; and develop test plans, interface controlĀ documentsĀ and test proceduresĀ 

  • Travel to customer and/or government facilities whileĀ representingĀ the company and department in a professional mannerĀ 

MINIMUMĀ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDĀ [What You Need to be Successful]Ā

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited schoolĀ 

  • 8 years of experience in design and operation of facility electrical/power systems and controls, preferably in an Architect-Engineer (A&E) firm or utility companyĀ 

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificateĀ 

  • Knowledge of current building codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA, IBC, UFCs)Ā 

  • ProficiencyĀ with power distribution systems modeling and analysis tools such as SKM Power*ToolsĀ®,Ā eTAPĀ®,Ā EasyPower® 

  • ProficiencyĀ with AutoCADĀ® and/or analogous computer-aided drafting programsĀ 

  • Ability to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced environmentĀ 

  • Experience with developing project requirements and performing electrical calculationsĀ 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skillsĀ 

  • Ability to travelĀ 

  • This position requires a currentĀ Ā TS/SCI clearance issued by the U.S. government

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDĀ [What You Need to be Successful]Ā

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Ā or relatedĀ engineering degreeĀ from an accredited schoolĀ 

  • 12 years of experience in design and operation of facility electrical/power systems and controls, preferably in an Architect-Engineer (A&E) firm or utility companyĀ 

  • Professional engineer (PE) licenseĀ 

  • Project management experience and ability to lead project teamsĀ 

  • Experience leading/mentoring junior staffĀ 

  • Project cost estimation experienceĀ 

  • This position requires a currentĀ  aĀ TS/SCI clearance issued by the U.S. government.

PREFERREDĀ
