Position Summary
The Engineering Manager will be directly responsible to lead and manage the compliance to technical requirements throughout the operation and ensure all company products meet customer specifications and demands. Responsibility will also include product design, bill of material, standard work development, support of new and existing technologies, accuracy, and on-time delivery by the engineering team. It will also include leading, coaching and guiding the engineering team and support Lean Manufacturing Processes in our Chanute, KS location.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the leadership team to set quality benchmarks
- Execute tests to check final product adherence to the company and customers standards
- Develop and achieve Daily KPI’s for the Engineering Team.Â
- Investigate and implement new technology throughout the production environment.Â
- Interface with manufacturing to provide support around improvements to achieve plant wide goals.Â
- Analyze and lead scrap and labor improvement projects.Â
- Lead and train Lean Methodology through standard work events and Kaizens.Â
- Provide new product development leadership for engineering functional team.
- Ensure engineering makes timely releases for all bill of materials and engineering drawings.
- Perform regular audits of products to ensure correct bill of materials and minimize usage variance.Â
- Guide the engineering team through the adaptation of new engineering tools and design systems.
- Contribute as a hands-on engineer as well as leader for the engineering team.
- Management of site capital budget and project selection.
- Responsible for supporting on-time delivery and accurate costing of products.
- Work with Operations and Maintenance departments to identify and implement opportunities to improve OEE on production equipment.Â
- Champion plant safety policies and lead the Joint Health and Safety committee.
- Ensure environmental compliance through policies and required reporting.
- Perform other duties as required in support of Plant Manager's goals and objectives.
 Experience and EducationÂ
- B.S. Degree preferred with Mechanical Engineer or other Engineering Disciplines.Â
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentÂ
- 2- 5 years of SolidWorks 3D Modeling experience (or equivalent 3D modeling software)
- Experience with environmental and safety compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of processing operations, ergonomics, and lean manufacturing
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
 Technical SkillsÂ
- Complex problem solving, Technology Design, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Product Development, Presenting Technical Information.Â
