We’re seeking a Training Manager who can ensure staff are prepared to meet required standards in a secure setting.Â
Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating security officer certification training and non-security pre-service and in-service training for the facility in compliance with MTC and customer directives.
 Essential Functions:    Â
- Plan, coordinate, develop and conduct officer certification training for all potential employees in compliance with MTC and Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) directives.Â
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct appropriate training for all non-custodial employees as required by MTC and ICE directivesÂ
- Oversee the maintenance and documentation of all certificates and pre-training records.Â
- Establish periodic and annual review of certification and pre-service training programs.Â
- Develop the departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.Â
- Conduct regular reviews and inspections to ensure facility operations and programs are compliant with all applicable laws and agency policy.Â
- Conduct annual in-service training for all staff, as directed.Â
- Establish periodic and annual review of training documentation to include certifications, and pre-service and in-service training records.Â
- Requires long periods of standing in front of a classroom.Â
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills, procedures and intervention techniques.Â
- Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety procedures.Â
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or associated field and two (2) years’ experience in training and curriculum development required. Two (2) years correctional custody or law enforcement experience and prior supervisory experience preferred. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements, if approved by management. Must possess computer skills and demonstrated writing proficiency. Must successfully complete required pre-service training. Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.Â
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.Â
