The newly created Sovereign Services & Delivery business unit is part of the Board area Customer Value Group, with responsibility across the Sovereign Cloud portfolio of SAP. Sovereign Services & Delivery teams are collaborating closely with all Board areas to establish a harmonized, scalable, and consistent offering with transparent and standardized deliverables. 

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

We are looking for a Project Expert - Development (f/m/d) who will focus on the Sovereign Cloud activities of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC).

 

In this role, you will join the Multi-Tenant Platforms team: We own, build, and harden, the internal SAP Sovereign Cloud environments used as reference by the regional Operations teams. You will help deliver SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) applications to SAP Sovereign Cloud customers aiming at functional completeness, streamlined deployments, and smooth operation.

You will be working closely with technical product managers, engineers, our security team, as well as SAP product team members, and operations teams. You will have the opportunity to solve the intricate Sovereign Cloud challenges of scale and security, while using your skills to manage projects and milestones.

You will be responsible for handling different concurrent projects, including managing dependencies between applications, defining and monitoring project milestones, providing status reports, as well as serving as trusted advisor for system landscape questions. You will actively manage relationships between key stakeholders on the SAP commercial, the Sovereign Cloud, as well as the Operations side. You will provide guidance to the Sovereign Cloud Engineering team around processes and tools to ensure seamless deployments.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field
  • Strong background in project management
  • Proven track record in managing schedules for large scale projects / programs
  • Familiarity with senior leadership reporting and executive-level communication
  • Experience across the entire product development lifecycle
  • Professional experience in Cloud Delivery related fields and technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps processes and concepts
  • Solid knowledge of Cloud infrastructure and design incl. hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Advanced JIRA expertise in planning, reporting, defect handling, custom dashboards, and automation (JQL etc.)
  • Experience with Security processes, tools, and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, ITAR, GDPR, ISO 27001)
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder priorities across Engineering, Operations, and Customer Success
  • Experience with incident escalation management and coordinating resolution across teams
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a big plus
  • Prior team or work stream lead experience is a plus
  • Product knowledge of the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) or its components is a plus
  • Working knowledge of databases (SAP HANA preferred, Postgres/MySQL acceptable) is a plus
  • Excellent methodological and conceptual skills paired with analytical thinking 
  • Demonstrated ability to unblock teams, resolve ambiguity, and drive decisions without complete information

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of professional experience in Cloud DevOps Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Professional experience in software engineering roles

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted annual combined range for this position is 176300-374200USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
