Transit Bus Operator – Night Shift

We are currently hiring a Transit Bus Operator to transport students, employees, patients, and visitors in a safe, courteous, and timely manner. This is a vital role requiring strong operational knowledge, attention to safety, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be reliable, professional, and able to adapt to a night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate transit vehicles safely in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies

• Follow route schedules and dispatch instructions with efficiency and sound judgment

• Complete pre/post-trip inspections, logs, manifests, and incident reports accurately

• Ensure passenger safety and comfort; assist with boarding and exiting as needed

• Respond to inquiries regarding fares, service areas, and eligibility in a courteous manner

• Use two-way radio communication to report incidents or service disruptions

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety protocols and transit regulations

• Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Attend required training and safety courses

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience operating public transportation or heavy vehicles

• Valid NC Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements

• Valid DOT medical card

• Strong understanding of traffic regulations and safe vehicle operation

• Solid communication and customer service skills

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams)

• Ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems

• Must pass all required background checks, drug testing, and physical requirements
