Job Title: Truck Dispatcher

Department: Traffic

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Assigns loads to drivers accurately and timely. Uses all resources available to cover loads and successfully service stores. Investigate shortages and delivery problems and implements solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Calls drivers to bid or assign loads based on seniority. 75%
Creates loads for backhauls and direct store deliveries, coordinates with dispatch sheet in routing and distributes to appropriate department. 5%
Releases orders to grocery and perishable warehouses for product selection. 5%
Receives calls from stores regarding deliveries. 5%
Contacts store if problems with a delivery. 5%
Investigates shorts and longs on shipments and corrects problems. 5%
Reports to work when scheduled and on time. 5%

Secondary Responsibilities:

Maintains attendance reports.
Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

Must have the ability solve logical problems; several abstract and concrete, variables.
Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Must possess the ability to copy data from one record to another; make appointments; interpret written work instructions; interview to obtain basic information; and have increased contact with people.

Education and Experience:

High School or equivalent experience.
Basic computer knowledge preferred.
1 year of related work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of 20 inches or less, with or without correction.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in an office environment. There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.

PC with Excel, Access, Outlook, Manhattan, Prospero, Telephone, and copier.
