WCHS has an exciting opportunity for a producer of a live, daily news-talk program on television. ā€œARC Appalachiaā€ is hosted by a dynamic anchor covering current events and compelling topics and includes guests and interaction with viewers. Ā The ideal candidate will follow the news closely in Southern West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, Ohio, and be flexible while working quickly. Previous experience in a newsroom is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with show hosts and news managers

  • Originating segment and interview ideas

  • Booking guests and researching topics

  • Editing video for the program

  • Posting stories online and to social media

  • Live production and timing in the control room

  • Assisting with live newscasts as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • You must have strong writing and news judgment skills

  • Experience with Avid and Adobe editing software a plus

  • A 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications is preferred

  • Previous newsroom experience is preferred
