About the Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and general property maintenance and upkeep. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will manage maintenance systems to ensure optimal operations and client/tenant satisfaction, in accordance with department protocols.


This role plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and performance of our buildings, creating safe, functional environments for tenants, clients, and patients.  Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the completion of work orders for tasks related to the physical maintenance and repairs of the assigned buildings utilizing work order-related software programs

  • Responsible for implementing routine physical improvements

  • Responding to emergencies in accordance with departmental protocol

  • Assist Supervisor in establishing and maintaining all equipment, tools, supplies in stock, inventories and logs

  • Implement, with the Supervisor, a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan and maintain all related records and logs

  • Assist with controlling expenses associated with the operation of the buildings

  • Communicate effectively to appropriate individual building status and changes

  • Adherent to all safety standards, policies & procedures, codes of conduct and best practices

  • Always act professionally and courteously with tenants, hospital clients, co-workers, vendors, patients, etc.

  • Utilize materials, supplies, tools, and other building property in a safe, productive manner

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related work experience and technical training 

  • High school graduate or GED required, technical school training in maintenance-related courses are preferred

  • Ability to understand and interpret design documents, manufacturer’s specifications and written operational procedures

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure teamwork and positive client/tenant/co-worker relations

  • Be able to take directions and follow instructions

  • Must be safety conscious

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure accuracy and timely completion

  • Basic aptitude for mathematics

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software

  • Have working knowledge of tools and their proper use

  • CFC Handling Certification is preferred

  • Must be located in Charleston, SC area

  • Must be in office, on-site, 5 days a week and drive to the various properties with employee-owned vehicle, as needed

  • Hours of this role will be 8-5, Monday through Friday, with availability for after-hours emergencies and participation in on-call rotation

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs, and perform extensive walking

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future

The estimated base salary range for this position is $27 – $31 per year. This range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base salary Ventas reasonably expects to pay at the time of posting. Actual base pay will be determined based on work location, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and business needs.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and other wellness benefits under applicable plan terms.
