Job Description Summary
The Phlebotomist II reports to the Laboratory Manager. Under general supervision, the Phlebotomist II plans and provides phlebotomy services for patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position functions as an experienced member of the phlebotomy team and provides instruction to students/new employees in accordance with the scope of a phlebotomist. The Phlebotomist II is responsible for preparing patients for blood collection, collecting blood from patients, ensuring accurate labeling, and delivering this blood to the laboratory for testing. The Phlebotomist II is responsible for all Phlebotomist I duties as well as some advanced testing techniques and younger pediatric blood collection. The Phlebotomist Tech II is expected to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and behaviors consistent with competent practice.Entity

Shift: Full Time (Varying shifts)
Location: Rotating locations throughout downtown Charleston campus
Minimum Training and Education:
Phlebotomist I:
Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 0-6months.
Credentials: Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
Phlebotomist II:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least 6 months phlebotomy experience required.
Credentials: Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course. This is a Career Ladder Position.
Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.
External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in position.
Phlebotomist III:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 2 Years work experience in phlebotomy required.
Credentials: Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course. This is a Career Ladder Position.
Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.
External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 6 months in position.
Job Summary:
Draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood. May conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank
