Cleaning: Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, buffs, and waxes floors. Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures. Empties trash cans daily, collects trash from grounds, and sweeps outside walkways. Maintains boiler room, laundry room, maintenance closets, and ensures all storage areas are orderly and clean. Key Responsibilities: Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to meet attendance requirements. . Ability to read and communicate in the English language. Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Maintains a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving. Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Assists in monitoring light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order and replaces light bulbs, as necessary. Assists in keeping the grounds and roof free of trash, Assists in setting up tables and chairs for meeting rooms and special events. and displays special signs, as needed. Also cleans the Citadel weekly. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff. Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with activities occurring inside, and the worker is subject to extreme cold and heat with temperatures typically below 32° or above 100° for periods of more than one hour. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required; one (1) year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van such as a box truck; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
