Summary:
The Sparkplug Support Technician is responsible for building and maintaining production jigs and fixtures, supporting Kaizen projects, and performing EF machine correlations. This first-shift role (Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:00 PM) involves fabricating components using machine shop equipment, assisting with new part number designs, maintaining process drawing manuals, and collecting statistical data. The ideal candidate brings high mechanical aptitude, precision hand/eye coordination, and strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a jig and/or fixture database.
- Develop and control preventive maintenance for fixtures or jigs using MP2.
- Effectively manage cost and productivity.
- Assist with new part number designs, including pins for EF jigs, connector jig designs, etc.
- Assemble production jigs, including EF jigs, accessory boards, metal band boards, etc.
- Utilize various machine shop equipment to fabricate and complete assigned Kaizens.
- Assist in the implementation of approved Kaizen projects.
- Maintain the process drawing manual for all part numbers.
- Operate the man lift in accordance with procedures and guidelines as needed.
- Perform correlations on EF machines as needed by TM.
- Perform all work in accordance with quality, environmental, and regulatory procedures and guidelines.
- Interface effectively with all necessary departments.
- Maintain a high standard of 5S in any work area, toolbox, and storage cabinets, etc.
- Function as a member of the First Responder team per the WVSM Manual.
- Collect statistical data as required.
- Travel and/or support overtime as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Overtime and shift changes may be necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, which include IATF, ISO, TISAX, ISMS, and Safety-related policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Effective communication and time management skills.
- Soldering experience.
- Ability to drill and tap.
- Precision hand/eye coordination.
- Able to interpret drawings and collect/interpret data.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Able to cope with stressful situations.
- Vocational or technical certificate preferred.
- MS Office experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to see and hear (correctable).
- Able to communicate verbally.
- Safety toe shoes required.
- Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Able to lift 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and repetitive motion.
