WSP’s Construction Materials Team is growing, and we have opportunity for an Entry Level Construction Materials Engineer to support our Charlotte, NC location. Your Impact

    • Perform testing and special inspections related to soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry on general building sites and facilities 

    • Interpret and monitor work procedures as per project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements 

    • Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites 

    • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations in a timely manner. 

    • Support project management tasks such as scheduling, reports review, budget tracking, invoicing, proposal writing and business development 

    • Mentor early career construction material testing engineers. 

    • Collaborating tasks and supporting cross functional teams. 

    • Work in accordance with Company safety policies 

    • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering 

  • 0-2 years of Construction Materials Testing experience 

  • Engineer Intern (EI)  or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification 

  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing) 

  • Valid Driver’s License and Good driving History 

  • Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required 

  • Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy 

Physical Demands 

  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work 

  • Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds 

  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles 

  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
