Location: Charlotte, Hybrid

Type of position: Full Time Salaried Exempt

Position Description: Applications engineering is a sales support function, and the Applications Engineer must become knowledgeable in a broad range of distribution processes, the mathematical theories that drive those processes and the technologies that can be applied to those processes. Specifically, the applications engineer will:

  • Help develop material flow diagrams and process flow charts
  • Develop system drawings (CAD) 
  • Gather costing for the equipment and services proposed
  • Develop proposal documents describing system requirements, scope of supply, etc.
  • Represent and reinforce SSI SCHAEFER’s core values—Modesty, Trust, Professionalism, Respect, Collegiality, Result Orientation, and Reliability. These values shape how we work, how we collaborate, and how we serve our customers and partners. 

Requirements & Skill Sets: 

  • Must have strong analytical (problem solving) capability; bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline preferred 
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the automation/Intralogistics Industry
  • Must have excellent interpersonal relations skills and must act in a highly professional manner
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able and willing to travel to support customer visits (generally 1 to 2 trips per month for 1 or 2 nights per trip). Must be able to obtain a passport for international travel if required. International travel will likely include 1-to-2-week training periods in Europe.
  • Must be responsible and efficient in their use of time and support resources
  • Must have strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel and should have proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Should have experience in AutoCad or CAD related software
