About the Role:
Unicargo is actively looking for a leader to develop and oversee a high-performing carrier broker operations division. This is an exciting opportunity for someone highly motivated who thrives on creating sourcing strategies, recruiting top talent, coaching for success, and maximizing profit margins.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in carrier sourcing for all modes and equipment types - truckload, partials, box trucks, drayage, specialized, etc - a passion for developing people, and a track record of building successful teams from the ground up.Â

Base salary + uncapped monthly commissions + quarterly bonuses. Full Health Benefits + 401K options.
Responsibilities:
- Minimum 5 years experience in freight brokering, with at least 2 years experience managing a team.
- Interview, hire, onboard, and develop a team of high-performing carrier reps.
- Create and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve company growth objectives.Â
- Establish performance goals, KPIs, and accountability measures for the ops team.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to maximize performance and professional development.Â
- Collaborate with all internal departments to maximize customer revenue, margin, and service.
- Work closely with leadership to idenitfy solutions for unique opportunities and expand market presence.Â
- Foster a positive, competitive, and collaborative team culture.Â
- Job responsibilities will be split roughly a 50/50 between individual freight brokering and team management
Requirements:
- At least 5 years' experience selling freight brokerage services
- College degree
- Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills with a great attitude
- Experience with carrier vetting tools like Highway, Carrier 411, etc.
- Bring existing carrier relationships with the ability to constantly grow your network
- Proficiency in analyzing industry pricing tools and market trends to accurately quote both spot and contractual shipping lanes
- Familiarity with all domestic transportation modes - Truckload, LTL, Drayage, and Intermodal
- High level task and time management capabilities
- Advanced problem-solving skills to remedy and identify common carrier issues (late fall offs, delays in transit, accessorial disputes, fraud attempts, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Â
- Expert in standard brokering tools (DAT, Carrier 411, Sylectus, LoadMatch, etc)
- Must be located in Charlotte, NC area
