Position Summary


The Health Care Support position provides administrative and care coordination support to ensure efficient client intake, insurance verification, and service delivery. This role interacts daily with clients, providers, and insurance companies to facilitate admissions, maintain accurate records, and support continuity of care — all while ensuring compliance with regulatory and confidentiality requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Answer and route incoming calls promptly; address client and provider needs with professionalism
  • Conduct client admissions, orientation, and intake; connect clients with needed services
  • Verify insurance benefits, check eligibility, and submit prior authorization requests via payer portals
  • Process payments, refunds, and account adjustments; prepare financial estimates for patients
  • Maintain accurate client records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Coordinate care and maintain up-to-date community resource information
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of client information in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Handle data entry, follow-ups, and correspondence with clients, providers, and insurance companies
  • Support utilization management documentation and assist with prior authorization processes
  • Keep the reception area clean and welcoming; assist visitors and clients to their destination
  • Stay current on federal and state insurance laws, ASAM determination, and regulatory requirements
  • Credentialed staff (CADC/QP) may also perform screenings, assessments, treatment planning, and group facilitation within their scope of practice


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in insurance authorization, billing, or business administration (preferred)
  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment settings a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Electronic Health Record systems
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance/payer processes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Valid NC or SC Driver’s License required
  • CADC, CADCR, CADCI, or Qualified Professional (QP) credential preferred at higher levels
