Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Commissioning & SCADA Engineer to support the commissioning, testing, and operational integration of utility-scale renewable energy facilities and electrical infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience with SCADA systems, plant controls, commissioning activities, and NERC compliance while working alongside experienced engineering and field teams.
The ideal candidate is an early-career electrical engineer who is eager to develop technical expertise in power systems, renewable energy, substation controls, and grid operations.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Support
- Assist with commissioning of utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, and related electrical infrastructure.Â
- Support pre-commissioning inspections, functional testing, energization, and turnover activities.Â
- Review commissioning procedures and verify completion of required documentation.Â
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, utilities, and project teams during commissioning.Â
- Participate in startup, troubleshooting, and performance testing of electrical equipment.Â
SCADA & Controls Support
- Assist with configuration, testing, and validation of SCADA systems.Â
- Support integration of inverters, protective relays, meters, RTUs, PLCs, and communications equipment.Â
- Help verify point-to-point testing between field devices and control centers.Â
- Troubleshoot communication issues involving fiber, Ethernet, serial communications, and industrial protocols.Â
- Support development and maintenance of SCADA documentation and system drawings.Â
NERC Compliance Support
- Assist with maintaining documentation required for applicable NERC Reliability Standards.Â
- Support compliance audits, evidence collection, and record retention.Â
- Help track required testing, maintenance, and cybersecurity documentation.Â
- Work with operations and engineering teams to support ongoing compliance initiatives.Â
Engineering Support
- Review electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.Â
- Assist with equipment inspections and field quality verification.Â
- Prepare commissioning reports and technical documentation.Â
- Support engineering evaluations and field issue resolution.Â
- Travel to project sites as required.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.Â
- 0–3 years of engineering experience (internships or co-op experience welcomed).Â
- Understanding of electrical power systems.Â
- Basic knowledge of substations, renewable energy systems, or industrial controls preferred.Â
- Familiarity with SCADA systems or industrial communications is a plus.Â
- Exposure to protective relays, PLCs, RTUs, or power system automation is desirable.Â
- Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards is preferred but not required.Â
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Â
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Â
- Ability to travel approximately 30–50% to project sites.Â
