Cox FleetĀ is currently hiring aĀ Light & Medium DutyĀ TechnicianĀ is a mid-level Technician and willĀ be responsible forĀ performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronicĀ diagnostics,Ā and other duties as assigned.Ā Ā WillĀ perform scheduled dedicated work onĀ assignedĀ customer fleetsĀ (mostly, light & medium duty gas vehicles, andĀ may also performĀ emergency roadside services when needed. Requires creative thinking for solving problems in emergency situations and self-management of the workday. Must be able to make decisions effectively and efficiently using critical thinking skills, provide excellent customer service, understand the importance of attention to detail, andĀ alwaysĀ maintainĀ situational awareness.Ā This role will have dedicated hours but may also require flexibility in scheduling and the ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations. This role follows established processes and procedures for making repairs or performing maintenance procedures,Ā establishing,Ā andĀ maintainingĀ safety practices on the job, and documenting work order information.Ā Ā TheĀ Light & Medium Duty TechnicianĀ strives for excellence in the work they perform and ensures quality of outputĀ

DutiesĀ 

  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs onĀ various typesĀ of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Power steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā 

  • Participate in regularly scheduled safety training. Remain up to date on safety protocols and procedures toĀ maintainĀ a culture of safety and compliance.Ā 

  • Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findingsĀ observedĀ on Repair Orders (ā€œROā€) using company issued device and our proprietary applicationĀ 

  • Communicate with management, team members, and Dispatch via Microsoft Office products and other communication methods such as email, or phoneĀ callĀ to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and/or discuss findings and notes.Ā 

  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations,Ā to includeĀ OSHA, EPA, and DOT.Ā 

  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed.Ā 

  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation inĀ timelyĀ fashion.Ā 

  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.Ā 

  • Works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job.Ā 

  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.Ā 

  • Work with a high degree of independence and manageĀ ownĀ daily schedule.Ā 

  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information orĀ assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectationsĀ 

  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.Ā 

  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Power steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā 

  • Confer with customers, Dispatch, and/or Sales team to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and to discuss work to be performed.Ā 

  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.Ā

RequirementsĀ 

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related fieldĀ (Combination of light & heavy duty preferred. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as anyĀ levelĀ degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.Ā 

  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.Ā 

  • This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.Ā Ā 

  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) monthsĀ remainingĀ until itsĀ expirationĀ may beĀ submittedĀ inĀ leuĀ of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months orĀ less ofĀ validityĀ remaining, a DOT physical will beĀ required.Ā 

  • Due to interstate operatingĀ authorityĀ commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.Ā Ā 

  • Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR reviewĀ required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain andĀ maintainĀ their Driver Qualification FileĀ
