The Pastry Chef at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Pastry Department and all staff. The Pastry Chef will ensure that pastry recipes, food preparation, and presentation meet the restaurant’s specifications and quality standards while maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitized kitchen. This role is responsible for executing and developing recipes, daily specials, and new menu items. This position is an on-site, full-time, benefits eligible position that reports to the Executive Chef.


 Responsibilities

  • Oversee Pastry Cooks, ensuring the recipe and sanitation guidelines are being met. 
  • Produce recipes, specials, seasonal offerings, and new menu items.
  • Ensure all products meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary workplace in compliance with health and food-safety regulations.
  • Operate bakery equipment safely and correctly.
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in and out of the workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements 

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Pastry Chef, Head Baker, or a similar professional kitchen role.
  • Knowledge of basic culinary math, including measurements, scaling, and conversions.
  • Strong attention to detail, consistency, and organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during Whitewater events as needed.


Physical Demands

  • Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space. 
  • Must be able to bend, lean, stand, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time. 
  • Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time and in all weather and environmental conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.
  • All positions at Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.

Whitewater is home to diverse and ever-evolving food and beverage outlets, including full-service and fast-casual dining options. In addition, the Food and Beverage Department oversees catering for private events and Adventure Dining.
