This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on collaboration with manufacturing teams, improving production workflows, and designing practical solutions that make a measurable impact. As a dedicated engineering resource for the Mechanical Exchange group, you will help drive productivity, quality, and scalability—supporting Okuma’s aftermarket growth strategy and long‑term business goals. What You’ll Do Create and maintain part numbers and bills of materials (BOMs) for Mechanical Exchange and aftermarket programs Review and validate unit and production BOMs to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and efficiency Identify, develop, and implement process and workflow improvements to reduce rework and increase throughput Design and develop production fixtures that enhance safety, consistency, and repeatability Serve as the primary engineering support for the Mechanical Exchange team Collaborate cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Aftermarket Sales, Engineering, and Business Systems Support quality, delivery, and cost objectives through sound engineering practices Document engineering standards and processes to enable repeatable execution Perform additional duties as needed to support business priorities What We’re Looking For Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field Experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, or aftermarket environments preferred Experience with BOM creation/management, process improvement, and fixture design strongly preferred Proficiency with CAD software Skills & Attributes Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and materials Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Solid problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail Comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts is a plus Work Environment & Physical Requirements Mix of office and production/warehouse environment Ability to stand, walk, and use hands/arms for portions of the workday Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform occasional bending or reaching Exposure to production equipment, forklifts, noise, and industrial materials; appropriate PPE required Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required Why Join Okuma?
