Position Summary

Leads daily manufacturing operations for Powertec's custom electric motor business, overseeing assembly, testing, and repair activities to ensure safety, quality, and on-time customer delivery. Drives operational performance through Business System tools, KPI management, workforce leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsible for meeting production targets, improving productivity, and supporting customer satisfaction in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Reports to the Plant Manager.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate and schedule daily production activities for custom electric motor assembly, testing, and repair operations.
  • Plan labor and resources to balance workloads and meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Drive SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) performance through daily management and problem-solving.
  • Utilize Business System tools, visual management, 5S, and standard work to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Monitor KPIs and production metrics to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets.
  • Lead hiring, training, and development of production employees.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve production challenges and improve performance.
  • Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance flow, capacity, and customer responsiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Education Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, manufacturing, engineering, or operations-related degree preferred.
  • Proven experience supervising manufacturing operations, preferably in a lean, custom environment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools, daily visual management, and structured problem-solving processes required; Kaizen leadership experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading operations in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment with customized or engineered products is required.
  • Experience in electric motors and/or related manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing flow, work cell coordination, takt time, operator loading, and production scheduling.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze metrics and KPIs to inform decision-making.
  • Effective communication and team-building abilities.
