Job Description:

About the RoleĀ 

We are seeking aĀ QC Lab TechĀ to be a part of the Quality team based in Charlotte, NC.  Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Control Technician serves as part of a team responsible for performing all duties associated with product quality testing in a plastic separator manufacturingĀ facility, andĀ is responsible for maintaining the safe and secure operation of the quality lab on his/her shift. The QC Technician will support the plant in aligning Celgard systems and processes to the automotive requirements; specifically in the product quality testingĀ lab, andĀ will assist the quality team in maintaining and performing other quality-related duties in the manufacturing area that directly support the on-going success of the value stream.

This is a day shift position on a 2-2-3 schedule. Shifts areĀ 12 hourĀ shifts from 6:00am – 6:00pmĀ

QualificationsĀ 

Education Background:Ā 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent requiredĀ 

Ā 

Knowledge & Experience:  

  • 1+ years of ā€œhands onā€ experience in a laboratory environment or previous Celgard operations experience required; may consider relevant advanced education and coursework in lieu of experienceĀ 

  • Quality Control Lab performing chemical and physical testing for the release of manufactured products preferredĀ 

  • Previous lab experience in an analytical or R&D environment preferredĀ 

  • Hands on experience working with polymer resins preferredĀ 

  • Prior experience documenting test results/observations requiredĀ 

  • Experience with an ISO certified system is a plus; Experience as an internal auditor in an ISO certified quality system is a plusĀ 

  • ProficientĀ in MS Office applications (i.e. MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook) requiredĀ 

  • Good math skills and understanding of unit conversions (English/Metric) requiredĀ 

  • Knowledge of basic statistical concepts desiredĀ 

  • Knowledgeable of requirements needed for a certified environmental system preferredĀ

  • Perform standard and/or non-routine QC tests including physical and chemical testingĀ 

  • Perform routine and non-routine resin testing using equipment such as Differential Scanning Calorimeter, TGA analyzers, FTIR spectroscopy, Rheometer, Melt Flow indexer, and pycnometer.Ā 

  • Maintain calibration status of equipmentĀ 

  • Maintain accurate records of data and observations (paper and electronic records)Ā 

  • Prepare and verify accuracy of data certificates for product shipments (COA).  Maintain QC document control (test procedures, calibration procedures, forms, etc.)Ā 

  • Collaborate and demonstrate good communication with team members both within the department and cross-functionally; participateĀ onĀ cross-functional teams; lead meetingsĀ 

  • CommunicatesĀ via telephone and e-mail in a friendly and professional mannerĀ 

  • Participate in employee involvement activities and ISO 9000 / TS16949 initiatives.Ā 

  • Practice excellent safety and environmentally sound habits; plan safetyĀ intoĀ all work activities.Ā 

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment that meets facility standards; participate in 5S activities; keep the quality labĀ organized and ā€œtour readyā€ at all timesĀ 

  • Present to small groups and participate in customer and visitor tours of the lab and facilityĀ 

  • Train others (new and current employees) as needed.Ā

  • Utilize KPI's (key performance indicators) to gauge performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.

Working EnvironmentĀ

This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals.  Work will require standing and walking throughout the shift.  Lighting and temperature are adequate.  You may be required toĀ lift upĀ to 35 pounds and/or force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Ā
