TRYON STREET - CHARLOTTE, NC 28206Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 Salary/yearJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesJOB SUMMARY The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general ledger integrity, complex reconciliations, compliance reporting, and review of transactional accounting activities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports audit and regulatory requirements, and collaborates cross-functionally to strengthen financial controls and processes.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process and review Accounts Payable activities weekly, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, internal control compliance, and complete supporting documentation. Prepare and submit Accounts Receivable billings, actively monitoring outstanding balances and ensuring timely resolution of open items. Review agency billing review in collaboration with the Billing Coordinator to ensure all eligible residents are billed accurately and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Maintain the general ledger and perform weekly and monthly reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. Prepare and complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, event registration, and other key accounts, resolving variances within established close timelines. Post and review bank and credit card transactions daily, ensuring all activity is cleared and reconciled by close of business each Friday. Ensure all financial transactions, including Auto ACH activity, are fully supported with appropriate documentation and meet audit and internal control standards. Process and administer expense management (PEX) card activity, including weekly posting, balance monitoring, and timely follow-up for missing receipts or documentation. Maintain the fixed assets schedule, ensuring accurate tracking of additions, disposals, and ongoing asset integrity. Prepare the weekly contribution report for Advancement and reconcile CRM to financial system monthly, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Prepare and file required tax and compliance reports accurately and on time, including sales tax refunds, monthly food and beverage returns, and quarterly use tax filings. Attend all Hope Haven required meetings Perform other duties as requested by supervisor QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP. Demonstrated efficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
