Job DetailsJob Location: Charlotte , NC 28206ROOF ABOVE Roof Above is NC’s most comprehensive homeless service provider.  Our mission is to unite our community to end homelessness, one life at a time.  Focusing on individuals experiencing homelessness, Roof Above offers everything from street outreach to shelter to Rapid Rehousing to Permanent Supportive Housing. Roof Above’s services and programs reach over 1,300 individuals every day across nine campuses in Charlotte. Roof Above was born through the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte in 2019.  POSITION SUMMARY The Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily management of the shelter campus during the shift, including, providing for the basic needs of all guests, addressing operational needs of the shelter, ensuring shelter coverage and working collaboratively across teams to facilitate service delivery to guests.      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Support overall mission of providing safe emergency shelter to homeless men in crisis and offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and trauma-informed services. Provides supervision, training, monitoring, and coaching to all assigned staff and volunteers.  Monitor staff daily routines, ensure staff are appropriately engaging with clients, providing appropriate wanding and searching of guests and guest items, following shelter process and protocol.  Serve as a model for desired staff action. Ensure staff complete necessary HMIS data and providing comprehensive and accurate written documentation of events that occur during shifts in the daily logs and/or incident reports, and ensure proper roving is completed.  Provides quality customer service to all guests, visitors, and volunteers and ensures the same of assigned staff. Monitor that all chores are completed by guests. Oversee storage and disposal of guests’ and former guests’ belongings throughout the shift. Notify maintenance personnel of the need for repairs, supplies and general cleanliness in the facilities. Ensure all donations received during shifts are managed in the appropriate manner per policy and are accounted for and secured and donors are appropriately thanked and provided written documentation of donation. Shift Supervisor EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of relatable experience (working with people experiencing homelessness), or a combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the position’s expectations is preferred.  Clear care and concern for people experiencing homelessness. Evidence of leadership skills, and a preference for experience supervising others Evidence of good judgement and ability to make quick decisions.  Comfortable setting boundaries with guests. Ability to flourish in a hectic work environment and to prioritize competing demands Strong administrative skills and comfort with the use of computers, databases, and technology.  Preference for experience using HMIS. Hard work ethic and willingness to do a variety of tasks Positive attitude and adept at customer service Valid Driver’s License required Perform other duties as assigned.
