Charlotte Center City Partners is looking for a creative, strategic, and collaborative Social Media Manager to lead the social presence for some of Charlotte's most recognizable brands and experiences, including Uptown and South End.
In this dynamic role, you'll spend as much time exploring Uptown and South End as you will sitting behind a computer. One day you might be interviewing the owner of a new neighborhood coffee shop. The next, you'll be capturing content at a popup, collaborating with local creators, launching a paid campaign, editing content into a reel, or analyzing performance to inform strategy.
We're looking for someone who loves creating compelling content and is a storyteller, strategist, planner, and community builder. Someone who enjoys experimenting with new ideas, embraces change, and believes in the power of social media to help people discover new places, businesses, and experiences. Someone who loves being on a team and is also a self-starter who loves taking initiative.
Please note: This is not an entry-level role. We’re looking for someone with the experience and chops to hit the ground running and ensure that our social storytelling is consistently ahead of the curve. Our core channels are Instagram and Facebook. We maintain a presence on TikTok, LinkedIn, and Thread and are exploring YouTube.
AI note: We believe technology should amplify creativity, not replace it. We are looking for people who are excited to explore new tools, including AI, while bringing the judgment, curiosity, and originality that great social media marketing and storytelling demands.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day social media strategy and execution for Uptown and South End, with a strong focus on Instagram and Facebook.
- Lead social media strategy and partner with contractors and colleagues on execution for Charlotte SHOUT!, the Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade, Victoria Yards, Rail Trail, and other organizational initiatives.
- Develop and manage social media content calendars that support broader marketing and organizational goals.
- Capture original phone video and photo content throughout Uptown and South End, including businesses, events, and community stories.
- Produce engaging short-form video and other platform-native content.
- Build and manage creator partnership program.
- Develop and manage paid social advertising campaigns.
- Manage online community for Uptown and South End by monitoring and responding to comments and DMs and engaging in social listening
- Monitor analytics and continuously improve channel performance.
- Stay ahead of platform changes, emerging trends, and new storytelling opportunities, regularly bringing fresh ideas to the team.
What We're Looking For
We're less interested in finding someone who checks every box than someone who combines curiosity, creativity, and strong execution.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about social media and how it continues to evolve.
- A creative thinker who consistently generates fresh ideas and enjoys experimenting.
- An exceptional storyteller with strong visual instincts and copywriting skills.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple brands, campaigns, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Equally comfortable planning weeks ahead and pivoting quickly when opportunities arise.
- A collaborative teammate who enjoys working across departments and building relationships throughout the community.
- Comfortable representing the organization in the community and, when appropriate, appearing on camera.
- Analytical enough to understand what the data is saying and adjust strategy accordingly.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and excited to take ownership of their work.
- Curious about emerging technologies, including AI, and thoughtful about using them to improve workflows, productivity, and analysis while maintaining originality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Approximately 3 to 7 years of professional experience managing social media for a brand, agency, destination, nonprofit, media organization, or similar organization.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and, to a lesser extent, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Experience managing paid social advertising campaigns, particularly on Meta.
- Experience using social media management and analytics platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Experience managing creator or influencer partnerships is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. CCCP offers a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, short-term, long-term, and life insurance with a flexible spending option, a 401K retirement program and parking.
