Job Requirements
| General Requirements | • Certificate for Clinical Competence through American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) earned before/at time of hire • State of Michigan SLP license |
| Work Experience | • Minimum of one year of related speech therapy, or school-based experience |
| Education | • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university. |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills | • Knowledge of Speech and Language Pathologies • Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of rehabilitation services including HIPAA confidentiality and JCAHO mandates. Knowledge of required assessment tests and tools • Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written form with patient’s family, physician and health care professionals, and insurance companies in the exchange of information. Presents self in a warm, profession and caring manner • Ability to analyze to develop treatment plans and goals • Demonstrates professional appearance • Analytical ability to assess patient progress and recommend appropriate changes to the plan of care • Mental ability to complete required documentation in a timely manner, deal with the concerns of patients and their families, and handle frequent scheduling changes • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job |
