Water Quality Technicians at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) are an integral part of the team who are solely responsible for managing and maintaining the water for the whitewater channels as well as the Deep-Water Solo pool. This is done through the monitoring and general upkeep of multiple complex systems of filtration and chemical injection. Water Quality Technicians manage these duties combined with constant, diligent monitoring of a wide range of testing data to ensure the water meets standards. Technicians are on-site and can either be hired as full-time, benefits eligible employees or part-time seasonal employees reporting directly to the Water Quality Supervisor.

  Responsibilities

  • Maintain and perform calibrations on portable testing equipment.
  • Collect samples and perform water sample analysis.
  • Ensure chemical levels are within System Operations Permit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and legible written records including daily observations, testing, and channel/system inspections.
  • Required chemical handling.
  • Identify and resolve minor mechanical issues.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance to water treatment systems.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks related to water quality systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  Requirements

  • Ability to follow instructions and manage a project list.
  • Strong attention to detail and physical surroundings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed.

 Physical Demands

  • Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space. 
  • Must be able to bend, lean, stand, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time. 
  • Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time and in all weather and environmental conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.
  • All positions at Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.
