Teachers On Demand is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Substitute Teachers to join our team in Charlotte, NC. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a seamless educational experience for students during teacher absences. You will have the chance to work in a variety of classroom settings, gaining valuable experience and positively impacting students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher.  
  • Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.  
  • Plan and implement appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials, provide appropriate learning experiences, manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners and accommodate individual learning styles.  
  • Collaborate with school staff and administration to support student learning and address any challenges.  
  • Continually communicate with students on instructional expectations to keep them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
  • Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or assigned.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.

Substitutes are Paid Weekly.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited United States institution in a related field.  
  • Valid teaching certification/license for the state or province of assignment (preferred).  
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.  
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in different classroom environments.  
  • Commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering a positive learning experience for all students.
