Transportation Planner

We are seeking a motivated Transportation Planner to join our growing North Carolina team and play a key role in delivering innovative transportation solutions that improve mobility and communities. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced planners, engineers, and project managers on a diverse range of transportation projects throughout North Carolina and the Southeast.

Working under the guidance of a Senior Planner and/or Project Manager, you will contribute to transportation planning studies, multimodal initiatives, data-driven analyses, and client-focused solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career in transportation planning while gaining hands-on experience on meaningful projects that shape how people move throughout North Carolina.

Based in our Raleigh, North Carolina office, this position offers a hybrid work schedule that provides flexibility while maintaining opportunities for in-person collaboration, mentorship, and connection with the team.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Support transportation planning studies, analyses, and technical reports.
  • Perform transportation data collection, field observations, and research.
  • Assist with traffic, mobility, transit, and multimodal planning activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze transportation and demographic data.
  • Prepare maps, exhibits, graphics, and presentation materials using GIS and other planning tools.
  • Assist with spatial analysis and prepare written summaries of findings and recommendations.
  • Support the development of transportation planning documents, studies, and technical memoranda.
  • Assist with public involvement activities, including preparation of meeting materials, exhibits, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, planners, and other technical staff to support project delivery.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of transportation planning principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of multimodal transportation, transit planning, roadway systems, and mobility concepts.
  • Strong technical, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn transportation planning software and technical tools.
  • Experience with GIS data development, mapping, and spatial analysis is preferred.
  • Ability to prepare maps, graphics, exhibits, charts, and presentation materials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Eager to learn and develop technical skills related to transportation planning and engineering
