Our Roberts PolyPro division is excited to welcome an experienced Plastics Operations Shift Leader to their Operations team. In this role, you will plan, create, direct, set-up, and run sheet extrusion equipment. In addition, you will lead a team of operators to produce, inspect, and plastic fixtures to specifications.

In this role, you will plan, create, direct, set-up, and run sheet extrusion equipment. In addition, you will lead a team of operators to produce, inspect, and plastic fixtures to specifications.

Does this work interest you?

  • Lead, direct, coordinate, and participate in all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity, minimize cost, maintain quality safely observing all company safety protocol and PPE requirements

  • Lead a team of 4 to 9 Extrusion Techs and Plastics Operators

  • Foster a clean and safe work environment via problem-solving, employee training, advanced planning, as well as assigning and directing work

  • Ensures timely startups and shutdowns to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessary downtime; pack finished product into corrugate containers from time to time

  • Instruct and train team members together with the Process Technician to become qualified set-up technicians following the SOPs defined by the company

  • Change extrusion die on extrusion machine following the SOPs defined by the company, making sure the correct size die is utilized for the current product scheduled

  • Set-up and operate extruder with the appropriate settings for regrind, color, and virgin material, making all necessary adjustments to produce quality components

  • Detect and diagnose surface defects of product, die lines, blemishes, color variations, etc.

  • Set-up punching and extrusion dies, troubleshoot, and performs basic machine maintenance

  • Monitor and inspect quality of finished goods, signing-off on the first article at the beginning of the shift or beginning of a new run after a changeover

Shift Availability:

  • 2nd Shift Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

  • Associates degree in Engineering or related field of study or relevant industry experience

  • 5+ years‘ experience in a manufacturing environment; 3+ years hands-on experience using thermoplastic extrusion and converting equipment

  • Working knowledge of tools, instruments, standard test equipment, and plant processes

  • Ability to document all processes related to the molding of a part that is repeatable and understandable

  • Ability to sample new tools and communicate with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to assure objectives are achieved

  • Excellent communication with ability to interact effectively with all levels

  • Self-starter, strong sense of urgency, and works well under pressure

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) to move shipments to hand truck
