MTSI is seeking a Senior Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Architect to support government and mission‑focused digital engineering initiatives. In this role, you will lead MBSE activities across system-of-systems analysis, digital mission workflows, requirements development, preliminary design review, and integration testing. You will work across hardware and software domains, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality technical products, architecture documentation, and model‑based systems engineering artifacts.

This role requires mature technical judgment, the ability to lead technical teams, and expertise applying MBSE methodologies to complex DoD systems, mission engineering problems, and enterprise digital transformation efforts.

Responsibilities
• Translate technical direction from government technical leads or MTSI PMs into actionable engineering tasks and workflows for the project team.
• Manage and execute medium‑to‑large technical tasks, ensuring efficient coordination and use of resources across personnel, software, hardware, facilities, and security requirements.
• Serve as senior technical lead for time‑critical technical projects, mission engineering events, or test activities requiring advanced MBSE expertise.
• Prepare acquisition documents, system CONOPS, requirements documents, and critiques of contractor preliminary designs and segment requirements.
• Participate in system testing and integration using MBSE tools and digital engineering techniques.
• Ensure timely delivery and quality of all technical contract deliverables, maintaining consistency with overall project standards and artifacts.
• Routinely engage with government technical representatives, teammate technical leads, and subcontractors to coordinate engineering activities.
• Mentor colleagues with less experience, providing MBSE guidance, design review leadership, and technical coaching.
• Work independently with minimal guidance, requiring assistance only in highly complex situations.

Required Skills
• Proficiency across multiple technical areas and advanced analytical engineering principles.
• Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions and actionable engineering plans.
• Experience overseeing complex technical studies, performing analyses, and generating comprehensive technical reports.
• Ability to identify optimal technical approaches and assign resources effectively to support architecture development and mission‑engineering tasks.
• Experienced in solving moderately to highly complex problems using senior‑level engineering judgment.
• Strong communication skills and business acumen for interfacing with senior government customers.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, proposals, and committees.
• Commitment to professional development and innovation, including driving digital engineering best practices and contributions to communities of practice.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of recent experience integrating systems processes or software development methodologies, including planning, designing, and analyzing functional system processes across hardware or software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to develop solutions for complex engineering challenges requiring in-depth analysis of both tangible and intangible factors.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary teams involving engineers, scientists, designers, and technicians.
• Awareness of Digital Thread, Digital Twin, and Digital Ecosystem concepts.
• Awareness of UAF, DoDAF, TOGAF, UML, and SysML frameworks/languages.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate and explain technical details to colleagues, management, and sponsors.
• OMG OCSMP certifications of any level (desired).

Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Active TS/SCI eligibility required
• Experience supporting enhanced security or classified deployment efforts is highly preferred.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $120,000/year to $145,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
