The Engineering Intern will support the Engineering team through documentation, engineering validations, and project-based work that supports manufacturing and facility operations. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering systems, drawings, and processes while working alongside experienced engineers and technical staff.
This is a full-time, paid internship located at our Chaska Production Facility, with an hourly rate of $20/hour. The internship will run from May 26 through August 14, with some flexibility on dates depending on availability.
Program requirements:
- Reliable personal transportation is required.
- Housing is not provided. This internship does not include a housing stipend or housing assistance.
- This internship is onsite full-time in Chaska with some travel to the Brooklyn Park location.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Handle engineering data:Â make and file prints, call up computer data files, print CAD drawings/models from data files.
- Create and make changes to engineering drawings or models:Â manual drawings, CAD drawings, solid models, sketches, and layouts.
- Support engineering validation activities, including documentation and coordination with engineering staff
- Assist with reviewing, updating, and organizing engineering documentation and drawings
- Perform mathematical calculations for dimensions, tolerances, motions, and costing.
- Read, interpret and/or sketch architectural or industrial drawings and plans.
- Participate in project management or the expediting of projects.
- Work and communicate with experienced technical personnel.
- Demonstrate understanding and use of technical terminology.
- Look up information in technical publications, specification sheets, and documents.
- Use standard PC business software for communication: email, internal office memos, business correspondence, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Create and work with costing data, inventory data, bills of material.
- Observe/analyze machine controls and operation.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year engineering program (mechanical, industrial, or related field)
- Freshman or sophomore standing preferred
- Basic understanding of mechanical or industrial engineering concepts
- Exposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting software (preferred)
- Strong organizational, time management, and follow-through skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work both independently and in a team environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
